Lately, I've really been into house decor, and trying to find my sense of style. What I like, and what I don't like, and what kind of style category it falls under. I was telling some of my neighbors that I've been struggling with a paint color for our family room. It's one of the first rooms you see when you enter the house. The family room opens up into the dining room that we just painted a "luscious" red color. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the color of the dining room, but I just don't know what will go with it. Anyways, my neighbor asked me, "well, what's your style, are you traditional, contemporary, modern?" I have no idea. I think I'm a little bit of everything. I have two pieces of furniture in the room, that will always be in there. They are a piano and grandfather clock we inherited from family. They are very cool, and maybe more on the traditional side. When I look at traditional pictures in home decor magazines, I feel like it's a little too polished and dark for my taste. There are some elements I like, and some I don't. Is it possible to come up with a "Michelle's Style" category? Any suggestions for paint? I picked out cream, natural linen, and olivewood paint samples from Glidden to see if they would work well with the red. The natural is the exact same color of our entryway stairs, and upstairs hallway space (I knew I liked it). I feel we have that color enough in our home. The cream could work, but I'm nervous that it's too much of a light color. Here is the dining room.
